I'm researching the family of my great-grandfather, William Thomas Jefferson SOMERS, who was born in Anahuac, Chambers Co. TX on 7 Oct 1862 to Henry and Sarah SOMERS / SUMMERS.They also had other children:
George (b 1848 MS)
Angeline (b 1854 Chambers Co. TX d 1927 Brenham,TX) m Robert HACKWORTH
Henry (b 1857 TX)
Benjamin Franklin (b 1859/1860 TX)
(William T. J. b 1862 Anahuac, TX))
Joseph Americus (b>1862 TX)

Henry and Sarah both died in 1870 - 1871, in Anahuac, Chambers Co.TX , and the children were split up, and the younger ones sent to an orphanage, where William stayed until he was 16, and went to live in Brenham with his sister Angeline and her husband. He later moved to Gainesville, Cooke Co. TX, where he married Lizzie Lee BURNS (daughter of John C. BURNS and Elizabeth Young Kimbrough) on 3 Jan 1894. Any info on this SOMERS / SUMMERS family would be most appreciated.
