Willie Lorene Self was born August 29, 1908 in Childress, Childress Co., Texas (Source: SS Index & Obituary). She had four sisters. One of her sisters was named Adelia Self and she was married to Unknown Browder. Adelia and husband lived in the Dallas, TX area before her death (Source: SS Index). I have looked in the 1900, 1910, & 1920 Texas and Oklahoma Census, and cannot find the Self parents or children. I would geatly appreciate any help.
In 1926, Willie L. Self married Tobe Emmett Dewey Giles in Texas. I found them with their son, James E. age 1 & 1/2 yrs old, in the 1930 Census in Shamrock, Wheeler County, Texas. In the 1930 Census, it states that Willie was born in Texas, and that both her mother and her father were born in Oklahoma. Willie L.(Self)Giles and Emmett D. Giles had another child, a daughter, Virginia Sue Giles, born in 1931 in Shamrock, Wheeler Co., TX.
I already have the SS Birth and Death Index for both Willie L. Self Giles and Tobe Emmett Dewey Giles and also the newspaper obituaries for each of them, so I do know the exact date and place that each one was born and died.
THERE IS NO MENTION OF THEIR PARENTS IN EITHER THE SS INDEX OR THE NEWSPAPER OBIRUARIES. If you can help me here is my email address: mewhundt@yahoo.com
