Melvin Ellis Johnson, b 12 Apr 1870, TN; residence Childress, Childress Co, TX; d 11 Jan 1951 Childress, Childress Co, TX; buried 14 Jan 1951, Memphis, TX [Memphis is in Hall Co, TX]; father, W.R.; mother Mary Caroline Clark.
You can see digitized copy of original death certificate -- http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html?..#w=;p=2;c=1320964;t=searchable -- birth date on that certificate proves it is the father, not the son Ellis.
1900 census Lamar Co, TX, looks like Melvin with first wife and his mother, birth date of April 1870 matches above DC:

" Sarah, w, b Aug 1879, 22 md 0 yrs, b AL, AL, AL
" Mary C., mother, b Feb 1839, 61, wid, 2 ch, 2 lvg, b TN, NC, VA
1880 census Putnam Co, TN, looks like Mary was widowed rather early and with her are the 2 children she lists on 1900 census and now you have name of Melvin's brother:
Category: Name; Relationship to head of household; Marital Status; Gender; Race; Age; Birthplace; Occupation; Father's Birthplace; Mother's Birthplace.

This now gives you names of two of Mary's sisters, too.
I got to thinking about why was Melvin buried in Memphis, Hall Co, TX, and went looking for his wife. There seems to be a problem on her death certificate. It says born estimated 1884, from age on census that would fit, but born 24 Apr 1873 does not fit. Here again age at death takes it back to the about 1884 date:
Lorene Elnoir Johnson, b estimated 1884; born 24 April 1873; d 3 Jan 1945; age 61 yrs, 8 mths, 9 days; married; informant M.E. Johnson; residence Memphis, TX; bur Memphis, TX; father JOhn H. Dickerson, b TN; mother Margareta A. Hutt, b TN.
Given name spelled varioius ways, but on one census middle initial is E., so that also fits.
