Hello Joan,
Thank you for responding to my post. Yes I was able to find the information on Melvin and his wife. I'm still looking for some of his children. His son and daughter from his first marriage I found and his daughter Nellie married a Jackson. Isn't it great to now have the death certificate's posted for Texas. I now have a source for Melvin's parents. The father William Riley Johnson was killed in 1872 in Illinois, only a couple of months before his second son was born. Mary returned to her family in Tennessee and gave birth to her second son in Tennessee. Melvin's brother Riley R Johnson was my grandfather. Mary never remarried. I'm still searching for the date of death for Mary's husband. Maybe one of these days Illinois will also post death certificate's.
