George and first wife Elizabeth are on the DeKalb Co, ALABAMA census, not Georgia. If she died in 1870 she probably died there.

Death certificate for Peter shows he was born 19 Feb 1870, ALABAMA. Maybe informant was off on the year of birth as Peter is not on that 1870 census. His mother isn't given on his DC, maybe George's second wife was his mother???

I see lots of errors on that 1880 census, odd they show Peter with father and mother all born in NC??? And there are several blank spots, too.
