I would like to find Mary Elizabeth McKinney of Greenville Co, SC and her descendants. I have been given two different birth dates___ March 30, 1851 and Nov. 13, 1854; I was also told that she married Henry Clay Matthews. I cannot find her in the 1880 census and South Carolina did not require marriage records this early. There IS a marrige record for "Lizzie" McKinney to Henry Clay Matthews in Collin Co, TX. I have tracked that family and cannot tell for sure that this is "my" Mary Elizabeth. The Mary Elizabeth McKinney I am looking for was the daughter of Daniel H. McKinney & Harriet Wallace (died fairly soon after Mary Elizabeth was born) of Greenville, SC. The 1860 and 1870 census records show Daniel's second wife. Mary Elizabeth's sister, Cynthia Ann McKinney Younglood, came to TX with her husband AND a half brother, Daniel Spartan McKinney, also came to Texas, to Collin County. !CENSUS: 1860 SC, Greenville District, Chincapin TWP, p. 347. Daniel M. McKinney(27 b.SC, value of real estate $2.000, value of personal property $1,050), Thamson (25, b. SC, housekeeper), Cynthia A. (10, b. SC), MARY E. (5 b. SC), Parisade (female, 1, b. SC), Sarah (8/12 b. SC). John Holcombe (13, b. SC) is also living in the home. !CENSUS: 1870 SC, Greenville District, p. 672. D. H. McKinney (39, farmer, value of real estate $500, value of personal property $200, b. SC) Thumson (?) (36, keeping house, b. SC) ELIZABETH (17), Parm... (12), Sarah (10), S. Martin (male, 6), Albert (1/12). NOTE: Very difficult to read. Any help will be appreciated, and I am always glad to share information. Notify Administrator about this message?
