Nathaniel William Broughton, Jr. was born October 11, 1859 in Smith County, Texas. He died September 14, 1922 in Brownsfield, Terry County, Texas. He was a son of Nathaniel W. Broughton, Sr. and Flora Neal. On December 2, 1883 he married Lucy D. Whatley in Comanche County. She was born June 25, 1869 in Mississippi and died January 30, 1894. They had several children togather.
Nathaniel W. Broughton, Jr, married his second wife, Mrs. M. C. ___?___ in Comanche County on December 29, 1895. I believe that she had previously been married to __?__ Roscoe but other then three Roscoe children listed as stepchildren in the 1900 census of N. W. Broughton's household in Comanche County, I have no proof. Her name is not readable but appears to be "Zar or "Tard" or something like that on the 1900 census. In the 1910 census of their household in Jones County, Texas, she is listed as M. C.
Can anyone tell me what her maiden sur-name was and who her parents were? I am also trying to prove the name of her ist husband, Roscoe and what became of him. Does anyone know when and where M. C. Broughton died and was buried?
The Comanche County Clerk's records may have her last name prior to her marriage to N.W. B. recorded on their original marriage record.
I would appreciate any assistance with these questions.
