Do you know what happened to Amyra after the death of William? Are those their children on the 1870 census in Dallas Co, TX living with the Heath family?
On the 1860 census William has land, have you checked out what happened to his land? Also, look for guardianship records, even if the mother was alive the court would appoint a guardian for minor children, not to physcially take them and raise them, but to report back to the court of any sale etc of that estate. This was to protect the interest of those minor children.
