I was intrigued by the marriage notice that someone found for you because it mentioned that they lived in Ennis, but were married in Alma.
World Connect (Rootsweb.com) has several people researching this family, so I discovered that Douglas Kendall was the son of Thomas Jefferson Kendall who in 1870 was living in Burnham (an earlier community than Alma, and located west of there near Ensign) by his 2nd wife, Susan A Marcia. The 1st wife died in 1871, so she is probably buried in the Burnham-Ensign cemetery.
In 1900 census Douglas Kendall is living in Ennis with his widowed mother, Susan. Next door it Richmond Allen.
This Allen was a furniture dealer. I'm speculating that T.J. Kendall was also in business with him, as I know there was a firm called Allen & Kendall Furniture Store, and at one time (before a fire) these names were on the building on W. Ennis Ave....next to the corner of Dallas Street.
