Sarah Johnson Smith Stakely

My g-g-g-g-grandmother Sarah Johnson Smith Stakely allegedly died on April 10, 1890 in Rice, which is half way between Corsicana (Navarro co)and Ennis (Ellis co). A distant cousin gave me the date, but no one knows the source. I see that the Ennis paper doesn't run as early as 1890. And the Texas Death Certificates weren't mandated until 1903. Anyone have any research suggestions? She was only about 37 when she died...quite young. And her 2nd husband ran off to Oregon and never remarried. I'm sure there's a story behind her death. I feel it. I would love to have some kind of confirmation on the date.

Would love any suggestions.

Thanks,
Sigrid
