looking for J. C. Whitton 1900 El Paso, Texas census

In the 1900 El Paso, El Paso Co., Texas census there is a J. C. Whitton. Living with him is his wife, Lavada/Levada and a step-daughter. He was 46, married 11 years, b. Missouri and a rail road laborer. I cannot find this man in the 1910 census or on the Texas death index. I would like to find out what happened to his wife thats name might actually be spelled Nevada, and at some point later in time might have actually had the last name of Smith. Any help would be appreciated.
