Conflicting birth and death dates for William Calvin Branson.
Birth Dates:
WW I Draft Registration Card states date of birth as July 24, 1893.
Social Security Death Index states date of birth as July 26, 1893, but
Cemetery Transcription states that headstone date of birth is Aug 21, 1892.
Death Dates:
Texas Death Record states date of death as Oct 11, 1978.
Social Security Death Index states date of death as Oct 1978, but
Cemetery Transcription states that headstone date of death is Dec 19, 1947.
He is buried in the same cemetery (North Cemetery, Santo, Palo Pinto Co., TX)
as his wife, listed as Tamsie Branson, and brother Hascue.
Hascue's dates seem to be correct. If Hascue's date of birth is correct (March
18, 1894) and going by William Calvin's birthdate of July 1893, then Hascue
would have been born less than 8 months after William Calvin. I am inclined to
go with the Aug 21 1893 date for William Calvin. This would make him born 16
months after James Edward and almost 19 months before Hascue.
When I searched for vitals/deaths in Parker Co., TX, I found they listed the
middle initial for William as William A. Branson, d. Oct 11, 1978. So, I
believe the dates on the headstone are correct.
BUT......what about the WW I Draft Registration Card? It definitely shows his
birth date as July 24, 1893 in Hazel Patch, Laurel Co., KY. Also on that same
card it shows his dependents as being his mother and 5 sisters and brothers.
Do you think he had his birth date wrong all that time?
