Hi Debra,
The most recent survey of Cotton Gin Cemetery was completed in June 2005 by Nancie Sterling & her daughter, Carolyn Rebuck. Nancie is the current association secretary. Her mailing address is 121 PR 919, Mexia, TX 76667. I think there are a few copies of this volume still for sale, and maybe a map, CD or Floppy. They are impressively compiled by plot and section, and alphabetically.
I checked my copy & it shows your S. W. Sims, date of birth as being 11-18-1828, and there is no date of death shown. So I would thing that Mrs. Sterling would have pulled this info from the cemetery records. It also lists him as a CSA veteran and no stone. The grave's exact location is apparently in question as its section & number is not listed. There is a William F. Sims, b. 2-05-1839, d. 2-15-1862, veteran and Private in the CSA who's section is also not shown. There are, however, 39 other Sims buried in Sections A, C, F, G, L. Hope this helps.
Ed
