En Route with Prisoners
Gainesville, Tex., Jan. 7: Deputy U. S. Marshal BOB RALE of Ardmore, I. T., passed through here today en route to Fort Smith, having in custody ARTHUR JAMES, JOHN SCOTT and TOM RATLIFF, charged with stealing cattle in the Chickasaw Nation. Arthur James is a cousin of Frank and Jesse James.

Alleged Hog Thieves Arrested
January 20, 1889
Gainesville, Tex., Jan. 19: Friday JESSE REEVES of Thackerville came to the city in pursuit of two men, his neighbors, charged by him with stealing four of his hogs. He and an officer found the men in a variety theater, arrested and jailed them. One confessed the stealing. They had sold them to a butcher here for $28.80.

About 8:00 last night, there was a regular fusillade of pistol shots on Red River and South Denton streets, but nobody was hurt. Two men were flying up the street with officers in pursuit and one fugitive and one officer firing as they ran. The officers were searching for two men who were accused of stealing hogs in the territory and bringing them to this city and selling them. Two strangers were noticed moving east on California street, whom the officers took to the men they wanted and when they approached them, the latter ran. Constable ANGLIN soon caught one them, but the other refused to halt and ran full tilt with pistol in hand pursued by Deputy Sheriff BOB ANGLIN. The party arrested gave his name as PETER WHITE, said he lived at Farmington, Grayson County. He met up with the fellow who did the shooting at the officers at Whitesboro he said. White was put in jail to await further developments.

Two Soirees in the Territory
Gainesville, Tex., Feb. 4: W. R. BOURLAND, until recently a citizen of this city and a very prominent cattleman, shot and killed a young man named FISHER on the BOURLAND ranch near Duncan, Indian Territory. Fisher went to the farm of Bourland about two weeks ago, and, it is alleged, raised a row with the proprietor and shot at him several times. Bourland, being unarmed, got out of the way, and by a piece of good running, escaped unhurt. Saturday Fisher returned to Bourland’s residence, opened a gate to a lot where some of Bourland’s cattle were, and commenced to ride among the stock. Bourland asked him to leave the place, as none of cattle there belonged to him. Fisher, it is reported, then opened fire on Bourland with a Winchester, firing three shots, on of which grazed Bourland’s head as he ran into the door. Bourland now secured a double barreled shotgun, returned his door and opened fire on Fisher, who fell dead at the first shot… Fisher is well known in the Chickasaw Nation while Bourland has always been considered one of most peaceable and law abiding citizens in northeast Texas where he lived for many years.

JOHN STONE, a prominent cattleman of this city, it is reported, shot ALFRED BROWN twice today with a Winchester rifle,, one ball passing through the shoulder and the other in the left groin, which is supposed to be fatal. The shooting took place on Stone’s ranch 14 miles north of here in the Chickasaw Nation, and it is said the trouble grew out of a dispute over the rent due from the lease of the ranch, Stone having leased the same from BEN STUART, a native, though the land belonged to Stuart’s daughter who recently married BROWN. Stone has not been arrested.

Eleven Men Arrested
Purcell, Indian Territory, Nov. 29P: Warrants were issued tonight for JOHN BILL RUSSELL, W. H. ROLLINS, CHARLES BOCKLEY, JOHN SCOTT, THORNTON CAMPBELL, JAMES H. HUGHES, J. M. PATTERSON, WES MORRIS, DOCTOR LEE, JOHN DOE alias IRON GALL KID, and ROBERT DONNELL, charged with robbing the Wells-Fargo express on the Santa Fe road near Berwyn, I. T. Monday night.

These parties with several others already in custody of U. S. marshals at their camp about 20 miles from here.

Judge WILSON, U. S. attorney for the district, and the railroad attorneys have been wired of the arrests and their preliminary hearing will be held before U. S. commissioner J.W HOCKER at his place. The three last named above named men, for whom warrants have been issued, were arrested at Oklahoma City today. The others were quietly picked up at Ardmore and Berwyn yesterday, near where the robbery occurred. Nearly all of them are recognized as gamblers who were caught in this country by the great rush to Oklahoma. A fickle female, it is said, has been talking.

Deputy U. S. Marshals HECK THOMAS and GEORGE U. STEWART, assisted by AL HONEYCUTT / HUNICUTT, city marshal and local detective at Gainesville, Texas, with scouts as keen as bloodhounds, have been at work.
