Semora/Samora

I am looking for info concerning the Semora/Samora family that is in Colorado County, Texas in the 1900-1930 census (Joseph/Joe, William/Bill/Willie, Charles/Charlie, John, Elmer, Elton, et al.). Also, this family is found in the 1870-1930 census in Lavaca County, Texas (John/Chano, Aaron, Green, Joseph/Joe, John, Blass, Vincent, Oscar, et al. This line is thought to go back to Mexico sometime before 1870. The name can be found spelled both ways Samora and Semora and is thought by the family to probably have once been Zamora. Also, John(Chano) Samora, Green Samora, and Joseph Samora were tried and convicted as horse thieves and sentenced to 5 years in the state penitentiary. John was actually shot between the eyes at apprehension. Green was pistol-whipped, but lived to go to trial.

Thanks,
Caroline Pointer
