Hi Lorene!
There is a TON of information out there; way too much for lay out here. Looks like there were alot of Honeas in Nararro County and they will need detangling!

First, appears that some of the info you posted may be a little scrambled. Further investigation will be needed. It seems that May was really Mary/May Brashear. Looks like Tobe dies in 1954 and went by the name Carl.

Let me give you the hard facts and them some resources. First, I found Tobe C. Honea in the 1930 Navvaro Co. Census. He's 27, married at 21 years old, with his wife May, and sons John R (5) and James W. (3). In the household with them is Tobe C.'s brother, Sam; Sam's wife, Lilly; and their daughter (3) Josie E. All born in Texas and all parents born in Texas.

I checked the Family Search death records. Found a William O. Honea, infant, died in 1929, father is "Toab" Honea, mother Mary Brashear. Then there's also another death certificate for a Dan O'Dell Honea, who's father was Carl Honea, mother Mary Brashear, who dies in 1951 at age 18. The informant on the death certificate is an L.M. Stogner.

Then I find Carl Honea's death ceritifcate in 1954 in Navarro Co. The informant is Mrs. Edith Honea. Lists his father as John Honea.

Here's what I think: May and Tobe may have divorced and May remarries a Stogner. And Tobe is really Tobe Carl (remember the middle intial on the 1930 census).

And turns out, from the death certificates, Sam's wife (remember the 1930 census) Lilly had a maiden name of Brashear. I'm guessing she was kin, maybe a sister, to May.

At the USGenWeb Navarro Co. site I found Lilly's obit. She died in 1930.

And at the same site there are a TON of hits on Honea...over 200.

So, first I'll give you the links to some of the above and then I'll give you my suggestions.

William O Honea death ceritifcate
Wm. O, 1929, Navarro Co.

Dan, in 1951 Dallas Co.

Carl's death certificate:

Now my recommendations:
Check with your library for a subscription to Ancestry or Heritage Quest. If you are in Texas, you get access to Heritage Quest with your public library card. You'll be able to access the censuses with Heritage Quest or Ancestry.

Second, check the Family Search database of Texas Death certificates.
http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html?..#w=;p=2;c=1320964;t=searchable
Click on the map for the US and scroll down to the death certificates. They have the actual images for 1890-1976. (be advised, there are VERY few death certificates before 1903). When you do yur search, you can narrow the search results down by putting a county (Navarro in this case).

Check the USGenWeb for Navarro Co.
www.usgenweb.org
Go to Texas then go to the county page to select Navarro. Put Honea in the search box and you'll see all the hits.

Finally, by a simple Google search, I found what might be a cousin from an old post on GenForum. Looks like she was looking for Sam.

Maybe ya'll can compare notes.

Anyway, hope this helps. There really is a lot out there. One word of caution: There's a Carl Anderson Honea born a few years earlier from Fannin and McLennan Co. Be careful not to get the 2 mixed up. And if you need help, just post again!

Good luck!
Andrea
