Have you checked the Family Search Texas Death Certificates? Is that how you got the names? In case you haven't, here's the info:

Info is the same in 1910, except James is James F. and Melissa is spelled Malissa. Reuben is still there, and of course everyone is older.
1920 They are in Shiloh in Limestone Co. Reuben has gone (he's in Mexia), but Melissa and James are there together. James is incorrectly indexed as J. R; the census looks to me like J. A. They own the farm.
And bless their hearts, Melissa and James are still there in 1930 in their 80's. It's J.F. and Melissa Jane. Reuben is next door with his family. The birthplace info has changed; now it is is AL-AL-AL (Reuben may have answered the census taker and didn't know). James was married at 24 and Melissa at 22 (which based on their birthdates, means they maried between January and September).
