I have a John Tye III, b.1742, who was a survey chain handler for George Washington and was in the American Revolution. He was given 200 acres in North Carolina, which is now Eastern Tennessee for service in the Revolutionary War.Was the TYE river named after John III or another TYE, or perhaps no TYE at all.The land records you sent show a lot of MAY's and the TYE family did marry into the MAY's family.
