Barbara,Thank you for your response.This is the Samuel Tye where my Jefferson is living.I am interested in "why?" this family had a strong interest in the Cochran family and took in the boys.Jeptha and Jefferson both fought in the Civil War.Jefferson was apparently killed in the Kentucky retreat.Jeptha was captured near Nicholsville, Kentucky, and was sent to Alton, Illinois, and then sent to Vicksburg, Mississippi. There he took the oath of allegiance back to the U. S. when Grant seized Vicksburg.From there, he joined a Tennessee Company.I am not real sure what happened to William .For a long time I thought he died, now, I am not so sure.If you check the Berry web site, you may get a little information on the Tyes.
