Lois, I am a Tye descendant and grew up on part of the Tye farm in Whitley County.I've been researching the Tye family (all branches) for over 25 years and there are still surprises!
I am interested in your statement that Joshua was definitely the father of Wiley Tye.I always heard it the other way, with Wiley being referred to as "the doorstep baby".In my family, the story came down that Joshua was not the father, rather that the baby was birthed by a "Tye girl in trouble".I am assuming that meant one of his sisters, though not Elizabeth, as she obviously reared her own.In following the deeds and court action having to do with the division of Joshua's estate, Wiley is not listed as an heir.Of course, that might simply be because children born out of wedlock were not always considered legal heirs.Any way, I'd like to exchange notes on this.
