Monica thanks for the reply. The letter I spoke of was one you posted to the genform about the Pritchards and how the three brothers came to America when they were kidnapped and then sold here in this country.
Do you recall that this was in a letter of 1924 written by Joe Pritchard about the family line of Pritchards? You were looking for the children of Jenny Pritchard.
Anyway there is a lot on the web re. the Tye family from very early in England to the first ones noted in America at Baltimore, Md. in the early 1700's. Closer to our time was John Granger Tye who came right around 1800 to Kentucky and settled in the Barbourville area. He had sons and daughters, some of whom were adults when he came and then he had other children by a second wife. His children are listed as John IVth b. about 1765 but was killed by Indians in 1784 or 1787 in Kentucky.
Elizabeth "Betsy" Tye b. 1774-1849, Sally Tye b. about 1780, George Tye b.1782, Mary Polly Tye b.1787-1872, Joshua Tye b.1788 or 1790-1870, Jane Tye b.1802, Mary Anne Tye b.about 1814.
Betsy never seemed tohave married but raised all her children as Tyes. I have names of six of them. Interestingly, she ran the ferry across the Cumberland river near Barbourville, Kentucky!
Sally married Ezekial Bennett
George married Mary Nancy Mays and Margaret Leah Pierce.
Mary Polly married Joseph Pritchard who was b. 1783.
Joshua married Elizabeth Cummins
Jane married James Blakely
Mary Ann ---no information
My line starting from the sons of Joshua and a son of Betsy is represented on my new web pages at http://train.missouri.org/~eljay/index.htmlhttp://train.missouri.org/~eljay/index.html
I have probably gone on with more than you wished to know but maybe someone will be able to use some of this info.
Thanks, Lois
