Thanks for the info, Marion!That sounds like my James William Tye.
I have since found out that his wife was named Lucy and they had at least 8 children, Alice, Mary, John Henry (my great great grandfather), Sarah, William, Robert, Matilda and Pearl.I know now that James left England for Canada in 1874.Alice was born in 1873 and I found a birth registration for an Alice Tye in Plomesgate and a marriage for a James Tye and Lucy Osborne in that same first quarter of 1873.They were both from Plomesgate.I'm fairly certain that they are my relatives.
I found a Robert Tye married in Plomesgate in the last quarter of 1846, which would make him the right age to be my James Tye's father, but I'm not sure.He married either an Ann Sewell or a Celia Russell.If these names ring a bell, please let me know.
Do you or your cousin have your Tye tree in GEDCOM?If so, I would love to take a look.
