To Frampy,
You and I seem to agree about the relationship of these Tyes.
I have been collecting information re. Francis Marion Tye and family connections. Here is what I've found along with my interpretations:
RANDOLPH COUNTY GA (Right below Stewart County SW GA)
The close counties of Stewart, Quitman, Randolph and Clayhave related families. Some of the families lived in all three counties at various times.
c.1790's Francis Marion Tye was born in Randolph County Ga. Francis’ wife, wasGeorgia Mills. They had son, James Tye b.c. 1819.(From: Henry Scott Tye who is a gggrandson ofFrancis Marion Tye)
Francis Tye was probably born in Va., not born in Randolph County, but he did live in Randolph Cty., Gaafter some time spent in South Carolina.
It is probable thatFrancis' wife was not Georgia Mills, as mentioned above. It is more likely that Georgia Mills was the wife of Francis Marion Tye b.c. 1845.This Francis was a grandson of the earlier one and his namesake. He is the one whomarried Georgia E. Mills on 24 Dec 1871 in Shorterville, Henry County, Alabama, USA.
Francis Marion, the elder, was probable brother of Thomas Tye b. 1795 who married Fannie Maxey and lived in Stewart, Clarke, and Randolph counties. He was also a probable brother of John Tye b. 1782-'83 who married Penelope Butler. Their father seems to have been John Tyre/Tye of Franklin County, Va. born before 1768.
1819 James Tye, son of Francis Marion Tye. James is probably father of James M. Tye b. 1844. James M. Tye was born in Randolph County, GA.http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/t/y/e/William-E-Tye-jr/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0089.htmlhttp://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/t/y/e/William-E-Tye-jr/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0089.html
He married Roxanna Stevenson. Other information says that James Tye was b.c. 1819 in South Carolina which could be correct as his father Francis Marion lived there for a short time after leaving Va.
James M Tye was born Abt. 1844 in Randolph County, GeorgiaHe was son of James Tye and Roxanna Stevenson.(Roxanna was from South Carolina.)http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/t/y/e/William-E-Tye-jr/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0089.htmlhttp://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/t/y/e/William-E-Tye-jr/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0089.html
LDS says his "father was James Tye b. 1819 S. Carolina."James was a grandson of Francis Marion Tye, the elder.
