Richard Tye, and Lambert Tye, questions
I have read the information on Lambert/Lambeth Tye and the belief that he was a son of Richard Tye, 1642 immigrant who died 1658/9.However, there is absolute proof that LAMBERT TYE was on the list of persons imported to Virginia in 1689 by Edmund Jennings (Jennings received 6,513 acres on the north side of the James River on 20 October 1689 for transported 131 persons, and Lambert Tye was on the list). So Lambert came to this country about 31 years after the death of Richard Tye?Is that not correct?
Also, there seems, to me, to have been another Richard Tye living in 1667 in Charles City County, VA., when you have this deed:5 April 1667:William Harrison, Jun., 386 acres, in Charles City County, south side of James River, beginning in a line of Capt. David Peeples, to Robert Jones, down to Pyny Swamp to the old Towne Bridge, to James Jones, to Line of Mr. RICHARD TYE, etc., for the transfer of 7 persons.
This is 9 years after the death of the first Richard Tye, and this Richard is not referred to as deceased, or that the land “formerly” belonged to him, etc.He "could" have been a son of the first Richard, if the first Richard married Joyce some time between 1642-1644, then this other Richard could have been in his 20's.
Does anyone have thoughts on this?
Thank you,
Virginia S. Mylius
