I am certainly most appreciative of the wealth of information offered here on the VA Tye's and the logic applied. My probable connection is indirect in that ancestor Thomas Hawkes of London in Cambridge records is listed as having married the daughter of Christopher Tye, Musician of the Court. Thomas married again within two years, so she likely did not survive.) Her forename is not given, but of the 7 children, she was likely the last and probably named for her mother, Katherine and born about 1551.Christopher had one son Richard b.c 1544, d, 1589 St Barking, London, who had married Alyce Smyth.Capt. Richard Tye likely had a first family and given the following information might have been b.c 1675.A John Tye immigrated in 1620 to James City, Co and became known in Surry Co, records as Tyus, although one can find spellings of Tias and Tios according to Boddie's "Colonial Surry".A John Tyus went on to witness the will of Benjamin Harrison in 1711.The Tyus family was later in Sussex Co, VA.The Drew family you mention toughes the Barker, Harris, and Gray families of the area.Gregory Bland was also the probable father of Theodoric Bland, who was the father of Col Richard Bland, who married Mary Swann, daughter of Thomas Swann of Swann's Point Surry Co.My ancestor William Hawkes came to James City Co with Thomas Swann in 1635 and became a mariner.I am not sure any of this changes the equation, but it may broaden the base.
