My Updegrove line lived in Berks and Montgomery counties. There are many different spellings of the name, including, Uptegrove, Uptigrove, Upthegrove, Opdengraeff, and Updegrove etc. Almost all of these came from the same ancestor back in what is now Germany. Three of the Opdengraeff brothers arrived in Pennsylvania at the invite of William Penn in the 1600's and were part of those settlers establishing Germantown now in the Philadelphia area. You can do a search on the web and find a lot of information and discussion groups about them.

Good Luck,
Pat
