Hi Dan:
I have the 1850 census for John and Rudy Udall in Wolcott, Vt. but it lists the last of their children still at home and Socrates is not one of them. I have the 1950 history Dr. Lionel Udall and his Descendants which gives extensive information on John and Ruby and also Socrates who is listed as their child born April 21, 1827 in Hartford, Vt. He married first Mary Bruce who had a son Warren D. born 1860. Socrates married second Martha Freeman Hovey, the daughter of Horace and Alpa (Hammond) Hovey. He died in Craftsbury, Vt. in Sept. 1899. The children of Socrates and Martha are: Bertren R. born July 30, 1868 and Denny Hammond, born Feb. 9, 1874, Craftsbury, Vt. I don't know if this serves well enough for you but the source for this section was D.H. Udall who was as listed the son of Socrates and should be a reliable source.
