Dear Barbara
The following information is provided by my wife Sandra:
Family legend has it that my father was a blue eyed, blond, 6ft 2inch American Air Force serviceman.
He was stationed in Berkshire and went to Greenham and Aldermaston. He met my mother Edie Shepherd in 1944 in Ham on the Berkshire/Wiltshire borders. He was in the 101st Airbourn and also went to Wantage in Oxfordshire. He also knew my cousin Peggy Rolfe and Edie's sister Hetty Rolfe, from whom I got the description.
If any of these names or places are in your father's diary, then perhaps we are half sisters. I was born in May 1945.
Added by Tony: There were several joint RAF/US/Canadian airbases in the Berkshire area, which was often confusingly referred to as the "Salisbury Plain" area.
Tony
