There was a John A. Uebel who operated a business in Erie, PA, probably about the same time that the John Anthony Uebel of your posting lived there. Because the name is not common, chances are this is the same person. The business was the Art & Gilding Shop, located at 26 West 11th St., Erie, PA.

I am an art collector, and have a watercolor painting signed "G. Hopkins", which was framed at the shop mentioned (Uebel's label is on the frame and other information makes it clear the frame was made for this particular painting). I am trying to determine exactly when John A. Uebel owned this business so that I can factor this into my research on the artist. Can you shed any light on this?
