Craig, My great, great grandfather was George Adam Uebelher/Evilhare. He emigrated from Germany in 1851. He left from Harve on the ship Rhine and arrived in New York on April 28, 1851 at age 28. Two of the census records state that he was from Baden, Germany. My family believes that George Evilhare (This is the way his surname is spelled on his tombstone.) and/or his wife were from Alsace Lorraine. In fact, one of their grandchildren was named Alsace Lorraine. I'm sure George was a catholic because his funeral was held in Annunciation Catholic Church in Williamsport, PA. George's wife, Louisa Brunner, lived in Easton, PA, with her parents and siblings in 1850. By 1860, Louisa and George were married and living in South Williamsport, PA. I don't know where they were married. Also, I'd be thrilled to find George's naturalization papers. I have found Louisa's father's papers. Louisa and her family came to America in 1847. On George's tombstone his birthdate is Aug. 1, 1823. He died in South Williamsport on Oct. 9, 1903. As for the Uebelhoer at Honey Brook, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that he is somehow related to my ancestor. I'm hoping that someone will know more about the Uebelhoers that lived in or near Honey Brook. That would be helpful. Thank you for all the info you sent!
