Dear Lynn Goutouski,
I saw your note in re Reinhart Uffelmann on the Genforum.
I tried the address gout@bmts.com, but it kicked back on me.
My great,great,grandfather, and my emigrant ancestor, Martin Uffelmann
was born in Hohenzell on May 21, 1822. He came to the US by unknown
routing, but family legend has it that he was a stowaway and was caught
in transit and had to work off his passage. He is listed, with family,
in the 1860 census in Beaver County, PA.
According to reports from church records, I have the following:
Martin's father was Johannes Uffelmann (1782-1854) of Hohenzell, m.
Anna Maria Lamm.
Johannes' father was Johann Nicholas Uffelmann (1751-1801) of
Hohenzell, m. Anna Eva Noll
Johann's father was Phillipp Reinhard Uffelmann (1726-1784) of
Hohenzell, m.Anna Catharina Sellig.
I have even more, but I hope this is enought for you to establish
connection. We can exchange the details and supporting information
later.
I use the Mormon (no,I'm not) PAF program and have most of my data
entered there.
I know of Uffelmans and Uffelmanns in the mid west and west and have
never been able to find a connection. Martin came over prior to 1860
but that's all we know for sure.
I'm very interested in the Canada possibility. That may explain why we
haven't found him coming in through a US port.
