UFT 98 to Family Tree Maker?

Changed OS from Win 2000/NT to XP. Old UFT98 doesn't seem to work under XP. Does anyone know if there is a way to import .uft file into Ancestry.com's Family Tree Maker? The technician I spoke to there didn't seem to know and suggested this forum. I don't want to buy it if I cannot access my voluminous record file. Thanks for info.
