Benjamin Finch (b1798) Mary Claydon (b1778)

I am having no luck finding the baptism records for Joseph Finch (b1805) or Benjamin Finch (b1801) so I am trying a different approach.

Benjamin Finch was born in Colchester, Essex, England in 1801. Joseph Finch (b1805) was born in Ipswich, Suffolk England. Contact with other researchers leads us to believe they are brothers and lived next door to each other in Ipswitch. Both were Sawyers.

I am related to Joseph Finch and several times I find the name "Claydon" used as a middle name for several decendants. It is very common in this family to pass on the maiden name of a woman to children of future generations.

Since I know Joseph's wife's name was Pilborough, I suspect that Claydon may have been the maiden name of Joseph's mother.

Once I received information about Benjamin Finch being the brother of Joseph, I found a Benjamin Finch who married a Mary Claydon in Colchester, Essex, England on 12 Jun 1798.

The dates and place would make them strong candidates to be the parents of Benjamin and Joseph. Since I can't find baptism records for Benjamin or Joseph I am looking for anyone who might have information about Benjamin Finch (b1778) and Mary Claydon Finch (b1778) with the chance they may know something about the children of this couple.

Camilla
