Further research has found that although Kelsey M. Ulm lived in Macon County, Georgia, he served in the civil war by going to South Carolina and enlisting in the 1st Battalion Sharpshooters, Company H. and the 27th Infantry, Company E. He was killed in battle on December 10, 1864 at Richmond, Virginia.
