Thanks for getting back to me. Seems we're not in the same branch, but maybe distantly related. I heard once that Ulrich is as common in Germany as "Jones" is here. I also heard that it's a corruption of the name of the Visigoth (Aleric) who sacked Rome. What a heritage!

I will let you know if I come up with anything interesting as I go deeper and farther back.
