I am also searching a piece of this family. My wife's ancestor is this same Adam Schmitt married to Amelia Ulrich. However, my wife is descended from his first wife, Anna, also buried in the Jacksonville, Oregon cemetery. They must have been married in Iowa prior to their first daughter, Louisa Anna, being born in 1859 in Iowa.

I was curious if you might have any clues about Adam and Anna Schmitt as well. I see a fair amount of information about the Ulrich's and the Bentz' and was even wondering whether Anna might be also a part of this family, but it doesn't look like it after surveying what I could find in the census records. However, Adam Schmidt may have known them in Iowa prior to coming to Oregon (ie while he was married to Anna) and I've been trying to find these families together, but none of them show up in the 1860 census anywhere (en route to Oregon?).

Any pieces of this puzzle would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
David Clark
