Hi, Judy:

Joseph Uncle's son James evidently had a first wife, Mary Montgomery. I am descended from James and Mary's daughter, also named Mary, who was born 22 Sep 1829 and died 6 Dec 1884 in Cookstown, NJ. Her death certificate states that her parents were James Uncle and Mary Montgomery.

"My" Mary Uncle appears to the the oldest child living with James in the 1840 census, but she was probably the youngest of the three girls living in the James Uncle household in 1830; the presence of a child over 5 years old suggests James married Mary Montgomery before 1825. I don't know when Mary Montgomery Uncle died, nor do I know anything more about James Uncle's second wife, Jane, than what is in the 1850 census.

In an earlier post, you mentioned that the maiden name of Joseph Uncle's wife Sarah was Cranmer. Can you tell me the source of this information?
