UNGARO of southern Italy - Cellara, etc
Posted by: Marian Douglas Date: February 25, 2001 at 00:08:45

Greetings to Rosetta and our other Ungaro researchers! UNGARO is not a very common name, even in Italy, and most are from the South of Italy.

Ours are from PUGLIA: BARI, BRINDISI, etc. in PUGLIA, with some connections to UNGAROS up North around MILANO.

We have even found at least one UNGARO family in CROATIA, just across the Adriatic from Puglia, etc.

Rosetta says GAETANO UNGARO was from CALABRIA (CELLARA). Calabria is close to Puglia - just across the Bay of Taranto by water; by land, they are separated only by the region of BASILICATA, where there are probably more Ungaros!

If anybody has some Ungaro connections, clues or other (first or last) family names to add, please let us know.

Our email address is
and in ITALY -
but we only see Italy email every few months.
