Hi, my family is Union,on my fathers side. I have an aunt who said that when the "Unions" came to the US into New York, from Scotland, the people taking the names could not understand them, so you can find Union listed as "Unim, Eunion" and such. It is funny you say that you found the Union name listed as "Onion", my mother and I have both been called that in the doctors office and over the phone! Ha Ha...My grandmother Frances Armistead married John Union of Scotland. They lived in Hampton,Virginia. It would be interesting to find any living relatives! Thanks, Melanie
