I didn't realize until recently my Union family history. My grandfather was Wilfred Union, brother of William, son of John and Margaret from Scotland. John's parents were William Onion (born 1811) (Union in some later census) and Jane (born 1821), both from Ireland who moved to Scotland. Haven't found anything before that.

When Wilfred and William came to this area it was known as Elizabeth City, Virginia and later as Newport News. I just started tracking the Union family history, so I don't have much, but I did see Rhode Island listed on one of the ships documents as a destination for a family member.

I'd be interested in any history you have of the family.
