A correction--Veneta Updegraff was born in Oklahoma, according to the 1930 census, where she is listed in Union County, Arkansas, by her married name, Bogard.Apparently separated; after first marriage in Faulkner County (AR) in 1926 (to J. Thomas Bogard, Jr.)One can speculate that Henry F. Updegraff, also married in Faulkner County (in 1888) may have been her grandfather, entering his second marriage (to Mary Halter).Perhaps his first wife, Catherine ____________, had died.A problem in identifying Henry (if the initial H stands for that) is that the middle initial is F. in 1888, A. in 1880, and C. in 1850 in Ohio. There is a supposition that the baby in Ohio was named after Henry Clay, and perhaps in later life he dropped the reference to the statesman.
