Looking for info on Civil War veteran Jacob S. Upp, who served in Company A of the 87th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. The regiment mustered in York in September 1861. Upp was discharged April 4, 1864, to the Veteran Volunteer Corps, i.e., he was physically unable to continue in the regular service. He was born 1839/40 and died 1908. A salesman from York, he nonetheless lived in Philadelphia in 1889.
