Seneca Russell in Mexican War?
Posted by: J. Mitchell (ID *****6189) Date: November 21, 2002 at 19:31:52

Seneca Russell purchased land in Whiteside County, Illinois, on December 9, 1852, apparently using a "MLW." Its number was 297. I suppose that a MLW was a military land warrant. Some of the other warrants on the record book show, apparantly, that the warrant was purchased from someone else, but I see no such entry for Russell's. Was this warrant likely to have been granted for service in the Mexican War? I cannot find a working Internet site that shows a list of U. S. soldiers in that war. Any advice appreciated.

Sincerely,

J. Mitchell
