You said you did a quick check for Maine soldiers. Did your reference source have soldiers listed from other states as well? If so, may I ask what that reference source is? I am looking for information on my gggrandfather Ebenezer Smith who was from Mississippi. Family tradition says he named a son General Taylor Smith because he served with General Zachary Taylor in the Mexican War. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide.
