Looking for soldier in Battle of Buena Vista
Posted by: Linnea (ID *****7158) Date: January 13, 2004 at 13:39:30

I am trying to verfiy whether or not my ancestor was in the Mexican American War. His name was Andrew or "Will" Wade/Waid. His wife was Emily Pratt of Trumbull Co. Ohio. Her obituary states that he died in the Battle of Buena Vista. I have other information that indicates that he just abandoned the family, with no mention of him being a soldier.

Even more odd, is that in the 1850 census, his two children were using the surname of "Myers" and Emily was just Emily Pratt, living with her parents. Any help in finding more info. on this mystery man would be greatly appreciated.
