Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

In the index to Mexican War pensions, there is an application listed for a John Parkhill, which would indicate he was not killed at Goliad:

PARKHILL, John.
Soldier's Certificate SC15958, filed 18 May 1888 in Oregon for service in Koscialowski's Independent Company of Missouri Volunteers.

Hope this helps.
