Mona, Thank you for replying. My cousin in Alexandria, VA, found in the National Archives that a Thomas J. Bridges of the TN Volunteers was killed in the Battle of Molino del Rey. The strange thing is that the battle was fought in September of 47 and he died in February of 48. I may be off by a year on those dates. They are not firmly set in my head. They must have left him somewhere wounded. All the information I have on him is that he ran away from the wagon train enroute to Arkansas from GA, and they learned later that he had joined the TN fighters. They were ready to cross the Mississippi at Memphis when he disappeared. I know nothing about a family for him, except his birth family. Thanks again. Mildred PS - Have you read GONE FOR SOLDIERS?
