I checked the Database of Illinois Mexican War Veterans and found that there were 14 Hall's that enrolled from Illinois - but not one Edward. Could he had gone by a different first name? or his middle?. The index above is free and is provided by the state of Illinois. Go to any good search Google and type in "Illinois Mexican Ward Veterans Index" - they also have an index for Illinois Civil War Veterans.
