My husband's gr-gr grandmother was given bounty land as the survivor of her son who killed in the Mexican War at Churubusco 20 August 1847. He was not married and had no children. She lived in Genesee County, NY, but the bounty land was located in Brown County, WI. She moved there and lived until her death in 1851.
