Thank you so much for responding to my query. I doubt very much that my Andrew/Will Wade was in the Battle of Buena Vista. I think he actually abandoned his family in 1846/1847, and the family used the Battle of Buena Vista to explain his absence. I have an old letter that told of how he left the family. There are some tall stories in this family though, and I don't believe everything I read! There was no mention of the Battle of Buena Vista or the Mexican War in the letter. It was the 1910 obituary of his wife, Emily that stated he died in the battle. I still have not been able to find any information on him to this day. Thank you again for the information though- it's very helpful.
